The Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine and the Division of General Internal Medicine are pleased to announce registration is now open for GRIT for Women in Medicine: Growth, Resilience, Inspiration, & Tenacity.

This course will empower women and men in medicine with the skills and resources to remove barriers and bias of women in leadership positions specific to the challenges in healthcare. Leaders in business and healthcare will present evidence-based strategies to promote professional development and enhance personal well-being. Nationally, there is large number of female clinicians reporting burnout which has a potential effect on patient experience, compliance, and outcomes. This course will address the growing need for improved clinician wellness and development for a gender balanced leadership healthcare team.

This course is intended for professional women and men in healthcare interested in developing a gender balanced leadership healthcare team: clinicians, administrators, and allied health staff.

Upon completion of this activity:

  • Attendees will be able to demonstrate skills to enhance communication with colleagues and team members to improve team based care and to better manage conflict
  • Attendees will be better able to identify symptoms of burnout in themselves and will be able to describe strategies to manage these symptoms
  • Attendees will formulate action plans to create and support a diverse healthcare team

Family physicians can complete the ABFM Knowledge Self-Assessment on Health Behaviors. Participants work as a group, learning from one another. The session is led by family physician who is an experienced KSA (SAM) moderator. The group discusses 60 core competency questions and answers.

For this session, family physician attendees do not need an individual computer or Internet access. After the session, we will submit the group's answers on a single group answer sheet. Later, individuals need to log in to the ABFM website and pay any required ABFM fees. 

Other Health Care Professionals

A certificate of attendance will be provided to other health care professionals for requesting credits in accordance with state nursing boards, specialty societies, or other professional associations.
