Overview

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Updates in Internal Medicine will present up-to-date information as well as contemporary approaches/strategies to the ever-changing and expanding discipline of internal medicine. The program will attempt to cover the scope of internal medicine, selecting from a variety of pertinent general and sub-specialty derived topics. Expert faculty will present evidence-based and emerging practical clinical approaches, regarding various general and sub-specialty topics.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

1 – Summarize recent updates, clinical studies, and new guidelines that impact practice in general medicine
2 – Describe updates in direct oral anticoagulant management
3 – Summarize common clinical pearls in the areas of general internal medicine, cardiology, gastroenterology
4 - Utilize strategies for communicating with patients 
5 - Interpret antimicrobial stewardship standards

Participant will earn 10 ABIM Medical Knowledge points through ABIM.  Information for receiving ABIM credit will be available at the course.
Participants should not claim AMA PRA Category 1TM credits  through ABIM.  AMA PRA Category 1TM credits are provided through Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.

2018-2019 Update in Hospital Medicine (10:15-12:15 pm)
Participant will earn 10 ABIM Medical Knowledge points through ABIM. Information for receiving ABIM credit will be available at the course.
Participants should not claim AMA PRA Category 1TM credits  through ABIM.  AMA PRA Category 1TM credits are provided through Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.

CANCELLATIONS

If you cancel your participation in this course, your registration fee, less a $75 administrative fee, will be refunded when written notification is received by Mayo Clinic General Internal Medicine CME before October 4, 2018 (email: rstgimcme@mayo.edu). No refunds will be made on or after October 4, 2018. Canceled registrations are non-transferable.

Mayo Clinic GIM CME reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to unforeseen circumstances. In the unlikely event Mayo Clinic GIM CME must cancel or postpone this course, Mayo Clinic General Internal Medicine CME will refund the registration fee, but is not responsible for any related costs, charges, or expenses to participants, including fees assessed by airline/travel/lodging agencies.
